No Summertime Blues Here!

Ahhhh .... mid-July is the best part of gardening. All I have to do is go out every day and water and harvest!

Oh, and here's some knitting:

A finished Button-up Sock on my new sock blocker, and a small project that I hope will work out to be a backpack or shoulder bag. The other sock is as far as the post-gusset decreases, so it doesn't have far to go.

The yarn for the backpack is Lion Brand Wool, which I dyed with black cherry Kool-aid. There's a neat cable design going up the middle. I think this might be smaller than I wanted, but I really don't feel like frogging it!  This is my typical July knitting conundrum. It's just too hot to knit!

Tour de Fleece is going very slowly, I'm just spinning about 15 minutes a day. My left thumb is just not cooperating, and I don't know how to work around it. So I am taking it easy!

Happy Fiber Arts Friday, everyone!

  1. The garden and the knitting are looking great. I'm sorry your thumb is messing with your spinning. That's not fun at all. At least you can knit.

  2. Your garden is looking wonderful. I always forget to water and things start to look a little sad

  4. Pretty, pretty pictures. Eye candy and made me smile. Interesting socks, too.

  5. I'm having problems with my left thumb too so I'm sending you extra sympathy -- I sprained it while pulling weeds 3 weeks ago and it's better but still not quite right. The good news is that I can knit and spin, though dressing myself is still a little difficult (buttons & hooks!).

    I love the button-up socks!

  10. That garden is looking good! Love the kool-aid dye-ing, too.

And in response to your comment yesterday, it is a shawl I have in mind. Need to swatch first, though. :)

  11. I hope your thumb gets better soon. Love your sock and your plants make me envious. I've been so busy spinning this summer that I haven't planted one single thing in my yard. I am ashamed a bit but not enough to stop spinning, LOL

  12. I like your meter reader on the side bar! Your garden is really beautiful. Isn't it fun to watch it grow from seed to fruit? Hoping your thumb is better. It looks as if you have had fun dyeing in spite of it. Black cherry Kool Aid dye turned out scrumptious.

  13. Ooo, Sunflowers. I love sunflowers. :-)

    Your sock is a-dor-a-ble!!

Have you tried spinning with your opposite hand?? I bet that would be awkward, but could be a fun challenge for Friday. ;-)

I hope your thumb feels better soon.
