Back on Track

I'm pleased to announce that my knitting mojo has returned. I have three WIPs on the needles.

1. The Gail (Nightsongs) shawl, which I tried last year and fubared pretty badly. I hope I'm on the right track this time. Yarn is Manos del Uruguay laceweight, purchased at the MD Sheep and Wool last year. Or the year before ... can't quite remember.

I got up to row 28 and then realized I was knitting far too tightly, so I frogged and started over. I should be okay till the last row of the chart, when I have to stop and figure out where to resume in the middle of the chart, which is one of the things that threw me last time I tried this pattern!

2. Calypso Shrug/Shoulder Wrap, from the fabulous Sock Yarn One Skein Wonders book.

The pattern is very simple and mindless, but I might have chosen the wrong yarn for it. This is like the crazy-eyes scarf pattern, where you yo1, then 2, then 3 times to make a stretched out pattern. But the yarn is this odd thick-and-thin blend I bought at last year's S&W, and I'm afeared it won't work right when I go to block. But I'm three pattern repeats in, so I don't want to stop.

3. The Beekeepers Quilt, also known as Hexipuff.

I'm going to start sewing these together so I won't be trying to sew 300 of them all at once.

I leave you with this absurdity, which is really a very typical Spinster Beth sort of thing.

Question: Do you ever re-use your spice jars, but don't relabel them?
Any guesses?

So that is what I am up to! Don't forget to stop by Tamis Amis on Wednesday, for WIP Wednesday.

  3. ooh very cute wip's, good luck on the shawl. Spices: the white one might be garlic? the dark one could be cinnamon or a curry spice? Have a creative wednesday xx

  4. 3 at a time, you knitaholic, you. No guesses on the spices :o)

  5. My guess for the yellow one is Tumeric or like the other said a Curry mix. The white one is not white enough to be Cream of Tartar and too white to be white pepper, so I'm gonna guess Onion or Garlic powder.

    Glad you found your mojo.

  6. Ohhh Manos ... I bet it's heavenly to knit. I'm still trying to decide on a shawl pattern for my lace yarn - NightSongs is definitely on my list! Good luck!

  7. I'm guessing curry on the right and ground ginger on the left? Nice colors for your Beekeepers puff.

  9. I have no guess on the spices but I do know that refilling without labeling wouldn't work at my house. I can never remember anything and we'd be eating everything spiced incorrectly:)
All your projects look great! I'm so pleased to hear that your mojo has returned:)

  10. Okay....alum on the left and curry or mustard on the right? Alum is an unusual one to have that much of...taste them. You'll know if it's Alum...it's worse than lemon juice and will make use pucker up big time.
I love your lacey work..it's beautiful especially with those gorgeous yarns. I too want to make a bee quilt...very nice projects! Good luck on that rough part! I'm great at frogging!

  12. I don't reuse my spice jars, mostly because I'm too lazy to wash them out. If you can't figure them out, I'd think smell and taste probably be easier than looking at them ;)

You reminded me to dig out my Nightsong and bring it to Ellen's when I go to Stitches next week. She never sent me the yarn, and I'm on the last few rows before cast off.
