Baby Stuff, and the Stash

Well, another week gone, and all I have to show for it is more baby blanket...the squares are done and I am sewing the seams.

And, guess what? I don't have enough leftover yarn in any color to do the border, which it desperately needs to keep from having curly edges. So I will have to go to a very, very dangerous place ... a store that sells yarn. I am actually having struggles in my conscience because of the size of my yarn stash. I am actually, literally to the point where I am thinking, "Whoa, I gotta stop buying yarn for a while!"

The MD Sheep and Wool is imminent. I am going, though I really, really, really don't need to buy anything. Not going to the sheep and wool festival would be like not going to the doctor if I had a broken limb. I'm going to go, and I will probably buy another spindle ... and yarn ... and stitch markers, which I cannot get enough of. And I'll tell myself that it's okay, because yarn doesn't rot or spoil or expire, and extra stitch markers are essential if you leave WIPs laying around like I do, and, well ... let's face it. I'm just weak. I can admit that. Sixteen days to Festival!!

Don't forget to stop by Andrea's for Fiber Arts Friday!

  2. oooh, 16 days! I wish I could go.
You did a great job busting that stash.
I give you "permission" to go to the store and not feel guilty.

  5. The baby blanket is gorgeous! And it absolutely has to have that edging so the yarn you buy for that doesn't count. And I will admit that I am very jealous you get to go to the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival. Enjoy!

  6. That blanket is coming along really well. And I agree it needs a border ... so off to the yarn store you go. ;)

I can't wait to see what you bring back from Maryland S&W - have fun.

  7. So the count down begins! A black border would really pull the blanket together, or one of the colors of the squares. If you buy yarn and use it right away, it doesn't count, right?

  8. In yarn math, yarn bought to complete a project doesn't count, so you're safe. Great stitch patterns on those squares. You have more patience than I. I can make the squares, but I lose interest when it's time to sew them together.

  9. Your blankets is lovely looking. You are too funny, I have the same thoughts about yarn, but like any addiction I have a hard time saying "no" when it is right in front of me, especially if it is on sale! I'm going to use that around my house too "yarn doesn't spoil" excellent!!

  10. I agree too... the blanket will need a border. Sad that you'll be shopping for yarn you don't especially love. But maybe you'll find something you do love to offset it. ;-)

You're so funny about MS&W. Of course, I've started thinking about my purpose/plan/strategy for Estes Park... but that's not until June.
