Is it a WIP or a FO?

I have figured out a way to participate in every single Tamis Amis WIP Wednesday, and Finished Object Friday ....

The Beekeepers Quilt! It's perfect ... every time I finish a hexi, I can say I have a FO. But it's also a WIP, at least until I have several hundred hexis. Perfect! I feel like I have membership in an exclusive club. I can always play at Tamis Amis' house!

In other news, I've started a Citron. With a Zauberball. I don't think it's a Crazy Zauberball...

It doesn't look crazy ... I can't find it online, and I of course tossed the ball band immediately before I needed it.

It's rather subdued for a Zaub, isn't it?

To finish this shawl, the directions say to knit three into each final stitch, which will end it with 540 stitches to cast off. I've never had that many stitches on the needle before. It's at 377 now and they are already crowded.

On a final note, don't forget January is NaKniMitMo! I blogged about it earlier. This year I'm going to challenge myself with a Russian mitten pattern. I hope to finish the Citron before the end of the year, so I can start NaKniMitMo with only the Beekeeper's Quilt in my WIP queue.

I leave you with two crazy-eyed cats reminding you to stop by and visit Tamis Amis for FO Friday!

  1. That is a beautiful shawl! LOTS of stitches...

I have never knit with a Zuber ball but might just catch the bug.

Your beekeeper quilt is coming right along and pretty!

    1. I don't know what it is about Zauberballs ... I can't explain the attraction! The green-and-rose-and-white one is gorgeous.

    1. I don't even know how to estimate if I'll have enough yarn ... I can't imagine that many stitches!

  3. I LOVE the beekeeper quilt. Every time I see somebody start it, I kick myself for not jumping on the wagon and casting-on. :-D

  4. WOW!!! I'm impressed with 1) your Citron-- mine's been on the needles since last December. 2) the speed at which you knit, 3) your goals for the new year!
Thanks for the inspiration and the lovely photos of your Citron :)

    1. Amazingly, I have only made one mistake, and the pattern is pretty forgiving of little errors!

  5. I love my citron. I used a striping yarn I commissioned with the colors I love. Just wish I had made it on larger needles so it might have grown a mite more. Yours will be lovely.

    1. Hmmmm ... I used the ones it called for, 6/4mm. Do you have a Ravelry project page, so I can see your Citron?

  6. Haha...I like how you came out with a lifetime TamisAmis membership. It would be funny if you keep up with the strategy a couple of years w/o missing a single Wednesday or Friday. Then one day do a post with the count and the total entries linked /posted. On a more serious note, the Citron is looking so nice...Can't wait to see it as a FO. Have a great weekend.

  7. The beekeeper quilt is so neat, yes, it's definitely a weekly WIP and FO. Zauberball is very common in Wingspan knitters, or is it Crazy Zauberball? Either way, your Citron is coming along nicely. Happy New Year!
